SuperLab 4.0.4 Known Issue
Cannot Add More Blocks, Trials, or Events
Last
Revision: October 1, 2007
There is a bug in SuperLab for Windows 4.0.4 that causes a crash when
adding new blocks, trials, or events. The Mac version is not
affected.
This bug has been fixed in
SuperLab
4.0.5, released October 4, 2007.
What Trips This Bug
As you add blocks, trials, and events, at some point they can no longer
be all visible at the same time and SuperLab will need to create a
vertical scroll bar. That's when the crash happens. In the
screen snapshot below, adding a new trial "t8" will cause the crash.

How to Get Around It
It is possible to work around this
bug until a fix becomes available. To do so:
-
Add blocks, trials, or events
until the listbox (surrounded by the orange rectangle) is almost full
but the scroll bar has not appeared yet
-
Resize the window so that it is
smaller vertically
-
Keep adding blocks, trials, or
events
Once the vertical scroll bar has
been created, you can continue creating as many blocks, trials, and
events as you need to.
What Happened?
In SuperLab 4.0.3 and earlier
versions, the program slowed down significantly when a user had a few
hundred trials. In some cases, clicking on the blue checkbox would
take over 30 seconds. The way SuperLab displays blocks, trials,
and events as well as the way it handles mouse clicks on the blue
checkboxes was completely rewritten from scratch in version 4.0.4,
eliminating all delays. Unfortunately, the bug described in this
tech note was inadvertently introduced.
