XID Accessory Connector Command
Set I/O Direction (a4)

What it Does

Determines which I/O lines are set for input or output. This command affects the XID device's behavior only when the Accessory Connector mode is set to General Purpose.

Factory default is for all lines set to output.

Using This Command

Send bytes a4 followed by a single "bit mask" byte.  A set bit (1) specifies that the corresponding I/O line is an input line; a cleared bit (0) makes it an output line. The lower six bits correspond to the six I/O lines available on the Accessory Connector.  The two higher bits are not used.

Corresponding Inquiry Command

Send bytes _a4.  The XID device returns _a4 followed by the bit mask.
