Support   SV-1    Setting Up SV-1

Installing the Battery

SV-1 uses a 9 volt battery (included). To install, turn the unit upside down and remove the cover. Insert the battery. Make sure to observe the polarity. If a battery is inserted the wrong way, no damage will occur (SV-1′s internal circuit is protected) but the unit will not power up.

After you put back the cover, turn the unit On by pressing the dark gray push button on the left hand side (marked with a “2” in the picture on the right). The Power light (LED) should illuminate. If it does not, verify that the battery was not inserted the wrong way.

Note: If the Power LED is flashing, this indicates a low battery condition; you will need a new battery soon.

Setup

SV-1 ships with a microphone mounted on a headset. This headset has two plugs; one of them has a single wire coming out of it and the other has two wires. The microphone plug is the one with only one wire. Insert it into the round jack on the right hand side of SV-1 (marked with a “1” in the picture).

Your computer must have an available serial port. If it does not have any but has a USB connector, you need to use the USB-serial adapter that came with your SV-1 unit. A serial cable is included with SV-1 when it ships. Insert one end of it into SV-1 (marked with a “3" in the picture). Insert the other end of the cable into an available serial port on your computer (or into the USB-serial adapter).
