Support    StimTracker 1G    StimTracker Interface to Biopac STP100C

Summary

Cedrus manufactures a StimTracker adapter board that makes it possible to interface with Biopac’s STP100C isolated digital interface using a standard DB37 ribbon cable. This document describes the signals that the adapter board makes available to STP100C.

If you have used SuperLab in the past to send event markers, you might be familiar with the Measurement Computing PCI-DIO24 card or its older version, the CIO-DIO24. These cards provide 24 I/O lines grouped into three ports: A, B, and C. StimTracker’s adapter board for the STP100C uses a DB37 connector that is compatible with these I/O cards. It generates the signals on the same pins as port B.

Please note that the STP100C also has a DB25 connector but it is not compatible with the DB25 connector on the MP35 and MP36. Connecting StimTracker’s MP35 adapter board to the STP100C will not work.

Setting Up AcqKnowledge

Setting up AcqKnowledge to work with StimTracker is straightforward. The screen snapshots below were taken using AcqKnowledge 4.2.

1.

Click on the MP150 menu and choose Set Up Channels….

2.

The “Input channels setup” dialog appears. Click on the Digital tab.

3.

For channels D8 to D15, enable all checkboxes for each of the Acquire, Plot, and Value columns.

4.

Optionally, you can also rename the labels.

Close the “Input channels setup” dialog and click on “Start”.

The Signals

The channel number in the table is as seen in the AcqKnowledge software. Ground is on DB37 pins 19 and 21. See also the note in Using StimTracker about the rate at which the LEDs flash in StimTracker’s front panel.
