m-pod works seamlessly with the Aurora 250 eye tracker from Smart Eye, delivering 8 bits of data and providing a true plug-and-play integration.

The Smart Eye Expansion Box is needed.

Using m-pod With a Response Pad

m-pod is not a standalone product. It is used with StimTracker, Riponda (or earlier RB-x40 Series) response pads, or Lumina.

Here is how m-pod connects when combined with a Riponda response pad:

The response pad draws its power from your computer via USB. When a key is pressed, information is sent at the same time via USB to the computer and via m-pod to Smart Eye.

The combination allows four different types of signals to be delivered:

Key press and release
Onset of a visual stimulus using a light sensor
Onset of a vocal response using any PC-compatible microphone
Event codes or markers sent via USB

This provides an excellent value if these are all the signals that you need.

When to Use m-pod With StimTracker Instead

StimTracker offers more options than the combination of response pad + m-pod described above:

Mark onset of auditory stimuli
Use more than one light sensor
Multiple outputs, e.g. one output to Smart Eye and one to EEG, guaranteeing that your data in Smart Eye and in the EEG are on the same timebase

Additionally, with the StimTracker Quad model, you can:

Mark onset of a participant’s vocal response using a mic
Accept direct TTL and switch inputs; this is handy for custom applications such as foot pedals or accepting input from other devices
Have a direct TTL output connector, very useful when outputting to a recorder for which Cedrus does not have a ready-made m-pod model

How to Order Response Pad + m-pod Combo

Order a Riponda with a button layout of your choice.
On the m-pod ordering page, select “m-pod for Smart Eye”.
To mark the onset of visual stimuli, order the optional light sensor, available in black or white colors.
