Both StimTracker models were designed for multimodal research from the ground up. The Duo supports two simultaneous outputs, whereas the Quad supports four outputs. The Quad has other features as well; see below.
A StimTracker Duo cannot be upgraded to a Quad model. If you think you might need one of the additional features in the future and your budget allows for it, consider the Quad model.
Add a Third m-pod
Send event markers to three recorders at the same time with 0ms delay between them.
Connect External Switches
or TTL Signals
Both models make it trivially easy to mark onset of participant responses using a Riponda response pad. With the Quad, you can instead add custom switches or connect a PC’s parallel port; see more info.
Use Up to Four Light Sensors
The Mic input can be switched for use as a fourth light sensor. Every StimTracker ships with one white and one black light sensor. You can purchase additional ones.
Add a Fourth Output
Occasionally, there will be an EEG, eye tracker, NIRS, or other research instrument that has no compatible m-pod. A direct TTL output makes it easier to build a custom solution; see this support note for more info.
Voice Key Support
Plug any PC compatible microphone to mark the onset of vocal responses.
